Pulseaudio prevents access to video while using usbaudio from Logitech QuickCam 3000

Perhaps this is more of a kernel USB handling problem, but I'm starting here after pointing out the problem on the Skype forums.

When using Skype with PA support the USB video can be used in the test mode. However, when making a call, if PA opens the USB audio device the application cannot access video from the camera. If I use pavucontrol to set the input device to the internal sound card, then place a call, the video is started correctly. Subsequently switching the audio input from internal to the QuickCam? USB input results in a call with both audio and video.
