pavucontrol turns unresponsive when changing volume and stream disappears

steps to reproduce:

start pavucontrol start a sound source with predictable end (aplay, mplayer...) grab the volume control bar, move it and keep holding wait until input finishes

pavucontrol is unresponsive to user actions (but still updates streams available and all other values)
