Where can I find a COMPLETE howto for configuring my soundcard?

Description

Once, long long times ago, I installed Fedora 10 on my Toshiba (harman/kardon) laptop. Everything worked fine and I even had good sound, both from the speakers and the earplugs. Foolishly, I let Fedora do automatic updates and after a few updates, my soundcard started cracking on startup. But happily, at the end of the FC10 lifecycle, my soundcard finally 'worked'. The frontspeakers produced some sound and the earplugs produced good sound.

Last week Fedora asked if it could perform an upgrade to FC11. After making a backup, I did the upgrade and hoped that (amongst others) my soundcard would finally work properly but alas, nothing has changed with the sound.

I know that the laptop is capable of producing good sound at a proper volume but it still doesn't work. Is there a good tutorial where I can learn how to configure audio to use both the speakers and the earplugs?

Hmm, this is a bug tracking system, not really a place to ask questions. SO I am closing this now.

Normally, PA should autoconfigure your audo device just fine, configuration should not be necessary. Just use pavucontrol to configure the few things you might need to configure.

And sorry, we have no guide for this.
