Description

I'm seeing a lot of messages in /var/log/messages that look like this:

May 12 05:18:11 hinge pulseaudio[3580]: module-alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write! Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers.

I'm using version 0.9.14.

My sound hardware is "NVidia CK804 with AD1981B Sound Card" according to the Gnome Device Manager.

This is a bug in your ALSA driver. Please file a bug report against your ALSA driver!

Then why does the message say to report the issue to the PulseAudio developers?

Anyway, filed as ALSA issue 4520.

Replying to braden:

Then why does the message say to report the issue to the PulseAudio developers?

Current versions of PA don't do this anymore.

It's been suggested on the ALSA side that this is a PulseAudio bug:

Raymond is wrong.

This really needs fixing in ALSA. ALSA tells us that there is something to write but there isn't. It shouldn't do that.
