Hmm, I don't think PA is responsible for that. Probably some other mixer tool you are running cannot deal with volumes > 100%.

I tested this here, and it really works.

Will close this now. Feel free to reopen if the problem persists.

sorry I see the same behavior .. Increase the mic input above 100%,restart the machine and pointer comes back to 100%.

I have the same problem. Pulseaudio doesn't restore a microphone volume after system restart. It's 1.0.9.14-0ubuntu version. It does restore it, when I give it volume under 100%, but above 100% doesn't work. I did a workaround by adding an autostart bash script, that runs: pacmd "set-source-volume mic 89000", which adjust the volume of my source=mic to 136%.

Maybe it's an alsa issue, since I cannot give it higher volume than +24dB gain (100%) of my mic in alsamixer (and thus in KMix). Maybe PA restore the volume and then alsa says "hey, you can set it above 100%" ?

Strangly, I had firstly added a line: "set-source-volume mic 89000" at bottom of my /etc/pulse/default.pa, but it didn't work, so I came up with the autostart-script workaround.

Replying to phanyx:

It's 1.0.9.14-0ubuntu version. (of course I mean 0.9.14, dpkg -l pulseaudio turned me into mistake)

Damn, why I didn't notice that. Sorry for bothering.
