Very poor sound quality recorded over network

Description

version: 0.9.5-4 rebuilt on Ubuntu from Debian testing. platform: Ubuntu 6.10

Recorded sound quality seems overly poor, although a previous configuration seemed ok (0.9.5-3 with 6.10-beta). I'm testing now with this configuration:

Yealink USB phone > ALSA > pulseaudio >> network >> libpulse > padsp > Skype

The client is a 2.4 Ghz regular desktop running as a LTSP thin client, the server is a 3.2 Ghz Xeon with only one user.

Sound playback from Skype and other applications is fine. The USB phone is 8bit, 22 kHz, mono-channel source and sink. I am however using the trivial resample method, will re-test with other settings.

Is this still a problem with current pulseaudio? What exactly do you mean with poor audio quality? crackling, stuttering, noise? Can you test without skype and without network to determine where the source of the problem lies?

Closing for now, feel free to reopen with more info supplied.
