ekiga does not play well with pulseaudio

I am reporting here that ekiga does not play well when running under pulseaudio. ekiga does not have a pulse backend, but it is using the alsa-to-pulse module.

I am not an expert, but since ekiga plays well when running directly to alsa, this seems to be a problem related to the alsa-to-pulse module.

The most evident case is when ekiga plays the ring tone (a wav file) and they keep opening and closing the audio stream (many times per second). As I said, when playing directly to alsa, there are no problems, but when pulse is active, one can hear many "glitch" which seem to indicate that the open/close operations introduce a discontinuity in the flow.

I know, that without a concrete example it is hard to analyze, but maybe more expert people might have an idea.
