Hard lockup running pulseaudio

Reported by: mestudd Owned by: lennart
Milestone: Component: daemon

Description

Running Fedora 10 on an Athlon X2 with an SB Live and onboard NForce AC97 or some such. Starting pulseaudio hard locks the machine almost immediately. I don't think I'm running with RT priviledges.

pulseaudio -vvvv ends with the following lines:

D: alsa-util.c: boundary : 4611686018427487904
D: module-alsa-source.c: Read hardware volume: 0: 94% 1: 94%
D: module-alsa-source.c: Thread starting up
D: rtpoll.c: Acquired POSIX realtime signal SIGRTMIN+26
I: module.ca: Loaded "module-alsa-source (index: #3; argument: "device_id=1 source_name=alsa_input.pci_1102_2_sound.card_0_alsa_capture_0 tsched=1")

PA should not be able to lock up your machine unless you run ith with RT sched. If the machine locks up then this is a kernel issue.

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to invalid

I am closing this now since I am sure this is a kernel/driver problem -- PA cannot lock your machine up.
