"Switchable" sound equalizer

Reported by: lemsto Owned by: lennart
Milestone: Component: core
Keywords: equalizer Cc: pacho@…

Description

I've had this idea month ago as i use both headphones and Hifi Amp as output for my PC, and they respond in a totaly different way to the frequencies. So, i wanted to suggest to integrate an equalizer in pulseaudio as it's going to be THE sound server ;) ... I also thought about the ability to store different equas to be able to switch easily between hardware output! (for example buit-in speakers and headphones on a laptop.) This idea is being discussed in Ubuntu idea pool, see here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=483331

P.S. i selected libpulse as concerned component, but as i don't know pulseaudio really well, feel free to select the right one ;)

I also agree with this. I tried some months ago banshee equalizer and I got surprised with the improve. I think that would be great being able to pass all sounds through the equalizer

Thanks a lot

I think you can do that already via a LADSPA plugin: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=789578

It does not appear documented anywhere in the site.

Replying to Rudd-O:

It does not appear documented anywhere in the site.

http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/SystemEqualizer

It's not yet documented on http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/Modules, because module-equalizer-sink is in git master, but not yet in a released stable version. 1.0 should come out in a matter of days (perhaps weeks)

Took the liberty to document it in the site:

Nice, thanks. That modules page needs to be updated for 1.0 anyway because there are lot's of new things (e.g. module-echo-cancel and updated module arguments)
